DATO
DATO - Data Analysis, Trending & Optimization
Policy-driven testing programs and onsite data verification, delivered through TRACE.
Two parts, before the outage and during it.
Part 1
Program development
We build the testing matrix from the mill's own testing policy. Where a mill has no policy, we build it from industry standard. Either way the matrix defines what gets tested, where, by what method, and how often, written against the unit and its known problem areas.
BSI learns each company's testing policy inside and out and applies it across all three pieces of the program: the matrix, the optimization, and the RFQ packages.
Then we optimize it. All data is reviewed against previous data, so testing effort moves toward the areas that are actually changing and away from what has been sound for a decade. The policy or the standard still sets the floor.
From that matrix we produce turnkey RFQ and scope-of-work packages. The mill can send them straight out for bid without writing the scope itself.
Part 2
Onsite analysis
During the outage BSI works alongside the NDT contractors, checking data as it comes in. Readings are verified against history using BSI's algorithms. Missing readings, reversed tube counts, formatting problems, and readings that deviate from history in ways that do not make sense all get caught while the crews are still on site to resolve them.
When BSI inspectors are in the unit on the same outage, the loop closes in hours. A reading that does not make sense gets walked down and looked at the same day, and a visual finding gets checked against the data on the spot.
Verified data then becomes something the mill can use before the outage ends: current condition reports, wear rates, and forecasts of where the unit is headed. All of it delivered through TRACE, the industry-leading NDT data platform BSI built and runs its own work on.
BSI software
DATO data is delivered through TRACE.
TRACE is the platform BSI built in the field. It is how DATO results reach the mill, with trending and history already attached. NDT contractors can also lease it to run their own work on.
Explore TRACEWhat is covered
What DATO covers.
- Testing matrix development
- Built from the mill's own testing policy, or from industry standard where no policy exists. The matrix defines what gets tested, where, by what method, and how often.
- Matrix optimization and trending review
- All data reviewed against previous data, so the testing budget moves toward the areas that are actually changing. The policy or the industry standard behind the matrix still sets the floor.
- Turnkey RFQ and scope-of-work packages
- Bid-ready packages the mill can issue as they are. The scope is written, the methods are specified, and the bids come back comparable.
- Onsite data verification
- Nothing goes into the record unchecked. BSI's algorithms flag gaps, reversed counts, bad formatting, and numbers that do not square with the unit history, early enough that the crew can go back and take the reading again.
- Condition reports, wear rates, and forecasts
- Verified data turned into current unit condition, how fast it is wearing, and where it is headed. The mill has all three before the outage ends.
- NDT contractor coordination
- We work alongside the testing crews, keeping the collection aligned with the matrix and resolving questions in the field.
- TRACE-based reporting and trending
- Results delivered through TRACE, with the history already attached so this outage reads against the last several.
How BSI works
Three steps, every program.
Build and optimize the testing matrix
Start from the mill's testing policy, or industry standard where there is none. Add the unit, its history, and prior results to set where the effort belongs.
Package the scope for bid
Turn the matrix into a turnkey RFQ and scope of work the mill can send out without rewriting it.
Verify and deliver during the outage
On site with the NDT contractors, verifying readings against history as they come in and delivering condition, wear rates, and forecasts through TRACE before the outage ends.
Why BSI
Why mills run their data through BSI.
Programs built by people who inspect boilers
The matrix is written by the same company that goes inside the unit. Testing is aimed by what fails, not by covering the drawing evenly.
Data checked while the outage is open
Verification happens on site as readings come in. A bad data set gets caught while the scaffold is still up.
Our own software behind it
TRACE was built in the field to deliver this work. Trending and reporting are not a spreadsheet assembled after the fact.
