Safety comes first at BSI.
Our work happens inside boilers, on staging, during outages, alongside crews from other companies. There is no version of this job where safety is the second priority.
The commitment
Every employee, on every job.
BSI employees are committed to a safe working environment for themselves and for everyone around them. That includes mill personnel, contractor crews, and anyone else on the job who did not choose who they are working next to.
Our people work in units that are hot, tight, dark, and full of other trades. Nobody gets to treat a safety rule as a formality in that environment. The commitment holds whether or not anyone is watching, and it holds when the schedule is under pressure, which is the only time it actually gets tested.
If a BSI employee sees something unsafe, they stop and say so. That applies to our own work and to work being done around us. It is not a courtesy we extend to the mill. It is the job.
Programs and standing
How BSI holds the line.
- OSHA certified
- Every BSI field employee holds OSHA 10-hour certification, and several hold OSHA 30.
- ISNetworld, "A" standing
- Certified in ISNetworld and carrying an "A" grade.
- TAPPISAFE trained
- TAPPISAFE training completed as required.
- Drug and alcohol testing
- Screening for every new employee, with yearly and random testing for current employees.
- Site-specific compliance
- Compliance with all client-required and site-specific safety programs.
